Dropbox to acquire Readmill, shut down service on July 1

A report from TechCrunch hinted at the Dropbox’s acquisition of eBook reading and sharing service, Readmill. Today, the Berlin-based startup confirmed the company was joining Dropbox and shutting down its app later this year.
According to the company’s blog post, Dropbox acquired the company for its expertise in syncing eBooks across devices.
Our team will be joining Dropbox, where our expertise in reading, collaboration and syncing across devices finds a fitting home. Millions of people use Dropbox to store and share their digital lives, and we believe it’s a strong foundation on which to build the future of reading. We’re delighted to work alongside this talented team and imagine new ways to read together.
Effective today, Readmill will stop accepting new registrations and will give its current users three months to migrate away from the service. Users can export their ebooks and reading data so they can pick up right where they left off.
