Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images for Nexus 4 now available

Google started rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update and released factory images and binaries for the Nexus 5, WiFi variants of both Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013 and the Nexus 10 earlier this week. Now the Factory images and binaries for the Nexus 4 is available for download. Factory images and binaries for the Nexus 6 is not available yet.

Initially Google did not confirm the Android Lollipop update for the Nexus 4, later during the Android 5.0 announcement Googler Sascha Prüter clarified that the Nexus 4 will also receive the 5.0 update.

Google did not provide the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Galaxy Nexus last year since Google doesn’t update its Nexus device beyond the 18 month period. Even though the Google Nexus 4 that was introduced back in October 2012 is over 18 month period, the company has provided Lollipop update for the smartphone, which makes the owners of the smartphone rejoice.

The over-the-air (OTA) update for the Nexus 4 should also be rolling out soon. If don’t have the update yet, you can download the factory images for the Nexus 4 from the Google Developers website here. This will wipe your device clean, so remember to back up your device before flashing.
